Aurora Borealis

The Northern Lights

Aurora Borealis

This was the first auroral curtain that passed us on the night this photo was taken. It was immediately followed by many more curtains, and at one point the sky was full of auroral curtains fron horizon to horizon. The aurora was bright, and cast shadows on the ground. The green color was very apparent. At the top center of this photograph, you can see stars in the constellation Hercules. The constellation Corona Borealis is visible in the upper right.

This shot was taken with a Nikon F2 35mm camera using Kodak Royal Gold 400 color print film.
